Project GRFT works to enable and empower people around the globe to create a means of first line defense against infection by viruses and protect themselves from the resulting sickness and death that we have become all too familiar with since 2019.
How can a viral outbreak be prevented from becoming a pandemic?
A solution to this problem lies in developing antivirals that prevent infection by different viruses and variants of viruses. We have found compelling evidence of such an antiviral in griffithsin, or GRFT.
The purpose of our project is to develop nontoxic raw materials, worldwide and at low cost. This will make it possible for people around the world to produce GRFT as a means to protect themselves when confronting the risk of existing or future outbreaks of viral infections.
Scientists actively working as volunteers on project GRFT since 2020 hope to make a future world witout pandemics a reality.
